With Internet Fraud becoming one of the fastest growing computer crimes the below sites will provide direction to various consumer resources for the topics listed.
Never provide any information for an e-mail request that appears to be from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) stating that your "account information needs to be updated" or that "the credit card you signed up with is invalid or expired and the information needs to be reentered to keep your account active," do not respond without checking with your ISP first. According to information received by the Federal Trade Commission, THIS MAY BE A SCAM.

The Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) and its mission is to address fraud committed over the Internet. For victims of Internet fraud, IFCC provides a convenient and easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities of a suspected criminal or civil violation. For law enforcement and regulatory agencies at all levels, IFCC offers a central repository for complaints related to Internet fraud, works to quantify fraud patterns, and provides timely statistical data of current fraud trends.
Go to the Statistics page when entering the above IFCC web page. There is an abundant amount of information on Computer and Internet Fraud. For example from 01-01-01 through 12-31-01 there were 17.1 million hits on their web page which resulted in 49,711 complaints filed. From all the complaints received 16,775 Internet Fraud complaints were referred to Law Enforcement or Regulatory Agencies accross the nation.
