The Windham Public Safety Dispatch Communication Center is staffed 24/7 with six full time dispatchers to provide rapid and convenient access to public safety for the citizens of Windham.  These Dispatchers are responsible for answering both emergency and administrative phone lines for the police and fire departments.  Upon receipt of an emergency call, they dispatch the appropriate Police and Fire units to the scene.

A majority of this work involves the operation of  the radio communications for both the Police and Fire Departments and is often done under stress full conditions.   They also perform assorted clerical and records keeping tasks, operate a computer system for the retrieval of Motor Vehicle Records, Criminal Histories, Wanted Individuals and access the State and National Crime Information Center for various police related tasks.  They have access to many different databases to obtain a variety of information for both the police and fire departments.
