These are the inked fingerprints of a subject who was arrested on two dates, which were 10 years apart.   He had provided a false name on the second arrest and his identity needed to be confirmed by a comparison of the two fingerprint cards.   This is why eveytime someone is arrested inked fingerprint cards are obtained.  This is the only way to positively identitfy an individual.  These photos show the process, which is used to compare and confirm an individuals identity.
